Media Poison

Everything in real estate is 'preception', not necessarily reality. Example, sellers think open houses...sell houses. They also think beautiful flyers sell houses, but the reality is; open houses bring agents more clients and so do the flyers.

My point being, as long as the media poisons the minds of buyers and sellers with the 'preception' that the sky is still falling in real estate, that the bottom is still dropping out...buyers are going to stay on the fence, and sellers are not going to be able to sell. The reality is, the market is fantastic for buyers. Deals abound with foreclosures and shortsales, and we Realtors need to get the word out to the public.

Just as quickly as the market went dead, it could turn again. Buyers need to be told that foreclosures will dry up, deals will go away and the mass of choices they have right now won't last forever. Buyers keep saying, "I'm going to wait just a little bit longer." They need to be reminded of the sellers who waited just a little bit longer for the highest price, and then it was like September 11th, when the world came to an end. Yes, I know that is a little dramatic, but timing is everything.

Right now buyers can take their time to find the perfect home instead of being pushed because of a frenzied market with multiple offers on one house. We Realtors need to help change the preception. And get the word out, "It's a great time to buy."
